CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Governor Justice has issued a State of Preparedness for all 55 West Virginia counties due to severe weather.
Gov. Justice made the announcement Tuesday afternoon following multiple severe-warned storms and tornado warnings in West Virginia.
“We are closely monitoring today’s storms and the related damage across West Virginia. We know power lines, trees, and other debris are in the roadways. We have also issued a State of Preparedness for all 55 counties,” Gov. Justice said.
“I extend my gratitude to our first responders, who bravely run to the fire when called upon—they are truly heroes. With the possibility of more weather tonight, I urge you to exercise additional caution.”
Over 116,000 people in West Virginia are without power this afternoon.
Kanawha and Fayette counties have been hit the hardest.
Multiple school districts also dismissed early due to the severe weather threat.
