The trail is marked by Mountaineer Mile placards provided by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (DNR), making it easy for walkers to follow the designated path.
Governor Morrisey will be attending the State Fair for Governor’s Day on Friday, August 8, and is inviting fairgoers to join him in walking the inaugural Mountaineer Mile.
The walk is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM, with participants asked to gather at Tomblin Plaza.
“I could not be more proud to include the Mountaineer Mile in one of our state’s most time-honored summer traditions,” said Governor Morrisey. “I encourage anyone to join us for the fair’s inaugural Mountaineer Mile as we celebrate the spirit and pride of our great state.”
To celebrate the event, walkers will receive a colorful commemorative bib to pin to their shirts.
Those who complete the Mountaineer Mile with the Governor will also receive a special token, which can be redeemed for six tokens at the carnival.
The event is free and open to all fairgoers, supporting the fair’s continued efforts to promote wellness and family-friendly fun.
