BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Angie Corwin of Activated Body Studio is expanding to a second location — 122 Main Street in Beckley — and the community is invited to tour the space from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and attend the 12:15 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2026, ribbon cutting. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be hosted by the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce.
Corwin said a raffle drawing for a free class for anyone who attends the ribbon cutting and/or the open house. The drawing will be done at the end of the day’s events, and attendees do not need to be present to win.
A fitness enthusiast, Corwin is one of the few nationally certified Pilates teachers in the state. She is an Anatomy in Motion Practitioner, a Pre/Postnatal Corrective Exercise Specialist, and focuses on functional movement repatterning in both therapeutic and exercise training.
“I feel so passionate about my work,” said Corwin. “I am extremely excited to get to know the Beckley community better and be a part of the uptown reinvigoration.”
Activated Body Studio has been in operation since January 2019. The full-service studio opened in June 2020 at 217 Main Street in Oak Hill. Corwin began her fitness offerings in 2016 in California before moving to West Virginia. In the Mountain State, she taught Pilates at Centered in Charleston and started seeing private clients in Fayetteville.
“Activated Body Studio is a movement studio that is based on the simple, profound belief that when you move better you move more. And when you move more, you are able to live life more fully,” said Corwin. She offers group fitness classes, personal training, wellness coaching, and therapeutic bodywork.
Devon Fitzgerald, business counselor at the West Virginia Hive, has been working with Corwin on all aspects of her business development. “Activated Body Studio is a leader in this space and Angie Corwin is a treasure for all of us in southern West Virginia. Being one of the few nationally certified Pilates teachers and the only one with a full-service studio south of Charleston, Angie feels it is important to offer Pilates training and her therapeutic services to a wider community,” said Fitzgerald. “A Beckley location provides the opportunity for more people to focus on their movement quality with a shorter drive. The initial studio in Oak Hill is successful, so a second location makes sense as the business continues to grow and become more established in the region.”
Corwin also offers comprehensive teacher training programs that lead to official certification and provides aspiring instructors with the skills required for professional practice.
To promote her Beckley location, Corwin is hosting a more formal open house on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with free 20-minute Reformer classes, the opportunity to meet both instructors, and a raffle for multiple prizes. Free snacks and beverages will be served.
