MASON COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Authorities responded to a domestic disturbance late Sunday night to Hanging Rock Road, where an escalating situation resulted in the arrest of a man accused of threatening his family and assaulting his grandmother.
According to the Mason County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to the residence at approximately 11:11 p.m. after a call reporting screaming and threats. The caller stated that her son had thrown coffee on his grandmother and threatened to kill his family.
Incident Details
Upon arrival, deputies identified the suspect as Gabriel Livingston. According to his mother, Heather Livingston, the situation began when Gabriel became agitated after discovering his supply of clonazepam, which had been refilled earlier that day, was empty. She stated that Gabriel had consumed all the medication earlier and, upon waking, grew increasingly angry when he could not find more.
Heather Livingston reported that Gabriel threw coffee in his grandmother Juanita McDaniel’s face and later hurled a shovel handle at a door. She expressed fear for her family’s safety.
Arrest and Resistance
When deputies approached Gabriel Livingston, who was sitting on the porch, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana. Upon questioning, Livingston admitted the smell was coming from a cigarette near his feet.
Deputies informed him that he was under arrest and instructed him to turn around. However, when Deputy Turner attempted to take him into custody, Livingston grabbed the cigarette, resisted arrest, and fled. Deputies quickly apprehended him and secured him in handcuffs.
Medical and Legal Process
Livingston was transported to River Health for medical clearance before being taken to the Mason County Sheriff’s Department for processing. He was later transferred to the Western Regional Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment.
