RENICK, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Greenbrier County woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a man in the head at a residence near Renick on Monday night.
According to the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home on Leanard Long Road around 10:45 p.m. on January 20, 2025, for a report of a gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, they found 48-year-old Stephen Bennett, the homeowner, with a gunshot wound to the side of his head.
Investigators determined that Tyler Truman, 36, who also lived at the residence, had fired two shots at Bennett, striking him once.
Five children were inside the home at the time of the shooting.
Authorities contacted Child Protective Services to assist with their care.
Bennett was flown to a trauma center in Virginia for treatment.
Truman was taken into custody, processed, and transported to Southern Regional Jail, where she has been charged with attempted murder.
The crime scene was processed by the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Team.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the West Virginia State Police, Greenbrier County Emergency Ambulance Service, and the Greenbrier County Emergency Operations Center.
Sgt. M. Doss of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
