GREENBRIER COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A domestic dispute on November 27, 2024, escalated into a stabbing, resulting in the arrest of a local woman on charges of malicious wounding.
Authorities were dispatched to a residence on Clarmont Baptist Church Road in response to reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers found Krystle Scruggs in the passenger seat of a Jeep Grand Cherokee parked in the driveway. The suspect, identified as Leigh Wolford, was located inside the home.
According to law enforcement, Wolford was packing bags when officers entered the residence. Upon seeing the officer, Wolford reportedly stated, “I have to go, I’m being arrested… probably malicious wounding. I stabbed Krystle.”
Wolford was immediately detained and placed in handcuffs. She informed officers that the knife used in the incident was hidden in a bag under some underwear in her room. Police recovered a black-handled knife in a black sheath, approximately 10 inches in length, from the described location.
In a written statement, Scruggs recounted the events leading up to the stabbing. She and her husband, Justin, had arrived at the property to retrieve a trailer. According to Scruggs, Wolford confronted her outside, accusing her of stealing a torch. During the argument, Wolford allegedly said, “I will [expletive] cut you, [expletive]!” and stabbed her on the right side of her chest.
Officers observed a half-inch stab wound on Scruggs’ chest consistent with her account.
Wolford has been charged with malicious wounding and remains in custody as the investigation continues. The incident took place in Greenbrier County, West Virginia.
