CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — On Tuesday, Nov. 28, Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council will be participating in the global generosity movement, known as #GivingTuesday. This day is an opportunity for people all over the world to use their own individual power of generosity to do good in their own communities.
#GivingTuesday is one day of the year where community members are encouraged to give back to nonprofits in their area, and the Girl Scouts are asking for support for improvements at Camp Rocky Ledges in Cabell County, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.
Camp Rocky Ledges is located in Milton, WV and is home to several service unit camps and activities, as well as troop overnights. Many girls have had their favorite Girl Scout memory happen at Rocky Ledges. Camp means having fun, making lifelong friends, and experiencing new things. We want the magic of camp to remain for many years to come.
“While we were only able to welcome around 150 people to camp last year due to electrical issues, the climbing wall was a crowd favorite,” said Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council CEO Beth Casey. “In the spirit of always trying to improve the camp experience, we are raising funds for a canopy with lighting for the climbing wall. This will prevent precipitation and UV rays from hitting the wall and the lighting will let girls be able to have fun on the wall day or night.
“$3,500 would help us reach our goal of ensuring that the climbing wall can stand the test of time against the elements.”
