PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Community Connections, Inc. invites the community to make their mark on history during a special three-day painting event, Monday through Wednesday, October 27–29, from 3 to 6 PM at the historic Princeton Renaissance Theater on Mercer Street.
Before the theater’s walls are sealed with drywall, community members are invited to pick up a brush and paint the interior walls as a time-capsule — leaving behind art, messages, and memories that will become a permanent part of the building’s legacy.
Each afternoon will feature a classic “spooky series” marathon playing inside the theater while participants paint:
- Monday, Oct. 27: The Addams Family
- Tuesday, Oct. 28: Scooby-Doo
- Wednesday, Oct. 29: Goosebumps
“This event is about more than painting behind the walls,” said Callie Lamb, Project Manager at the Princeton Renaissance Theater, “it’s a way for the community to come together, celebrate local creativity, and leave a lasting mark on a historic space that belongs to everyone.”
Call for Artists
Local artists are encouraged to participate by submitting samples of their work for early-access consideration. Selected artists will have the opportunity for private painting sessions before general community hours, allowing them first-pick of available wall space and uninterrupted time to create. Artists’ work will also be featured via social media and preserved through photography to be incorporated in various future showcases with full artist credit.
Artists interested in early access or reserving a private session may submit samples and scheduling requests to callie.lamb@strongcommunities.org.
Halloween Open House
The week-long celebration will conclude with a special Halloween Night Open House during the Mercer Street Monster Mash. Visitors will be able to walk through the theater, view completed artwork, sign the community wall, and see the progress of the ongoing renovation project.
The Princeton Renaissance Theater restoration represents a major milestone in the continued revitalization of downtown Princeton and is made possible through the dedication of local organizations, volunteers, and community members who share a vision for a vibrant, creative future.
