RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Heavy rain throughout the day has led to flooding and road closures across Raleigh County, prompting emergency response efforts and evacuations in some areas.
Raleigh County Emergency Services, in coordination with local law enforcement, Beckley Fire Department, county fire departments, Beckley Street Department, the Department of Highways, the Department of Natural Resources, Beckley Sanitary, and the Board of Public Works, are actively responding to multiple incidents.
A temporary shelter has been opened at 224 Pinewood Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 for residents forced to evacuate due to rising waters.
The following roads are currently closed:
- Violet Lane, Beaver – Evacuations in progress
- Drews Creek at the 800 block, Naoma
- Ritter Drive from South Eisenhower through Beaver, Beaver
- Slab Fork Road, Slab Fork
- Workman’s Creek, Clear Creek
- Simms Branch, Mount Hope
Officials urge residents to avoid traveling through high water and to report dangerous conditions by dialing 911.
