WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – West Virginia-based artists, Hello June and Charlie Brown Superstar released a new remix collaboration on Friday.
The track itself is an exhilarating reimagining of the Hello June song “California,” initially released as part of the album Artifacts released last year.
Huntington-based DJ, producer, and remixer, Charlie Brown Superstar – known for his work with Tyler Childers and as part of the Southern West Virginia DJ scene – supplies a healthy dose of imaginative recontextualization for the track, incorporating a signature approach which has come to be known as “Mountain Funk.”
The sub-genre incorporates an eclectic blend of jam, funk, and electronic music within the framework of Appalachian and local sounds. This amalgamation serves as an ideal platform within which to revisit the silky-smooth melodic passages and deep emotional resonance of the latest project from Hello June.
