HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman is facing charges after driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
According to Summers County Sheriff’s Department and Hinton Police, they responded to a disturbance of a man yelling at bus drivers on Cross Street. The male had left in a truck driven by a female, Frances Sears. When the two left the scene, Sears struck a parked vehicle and caused damage to it.
When officials found the suspect, she said she had driven her boyfriend to retrieve a cell phone but denied sticking another vehicle. Deputies say they could smell alcohol and asked Sears if she had been drinking; she responded, saying, “I had a few beers last night.”
An open Natural Light was seen inside the car. Sears agreed to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed. Her BAC level was .165.
Sears was charged with aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
