CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The House convened briefly Wednesday morning in a session which would see the passage of two bills.
House Bill 3233 would increase the uniform allowances for National Guard members to $500 and would allow for any member that requires a specialty uniform to request reimbursement for the procurement of such uniforms.
The bill passed unanimously through the House with 98 yea votes, 0 nay votes, and 2 Delegates counted absent.
House Bill 2937 would also see passage upon its third reading Wednesday and looks to reduce the amount paid to the Tax Commissioner by volunteer fire departments toward annual licensure fees for charitable efforts.
The bill, for which Delegate Barnhart (R-Pleasants, 009) is lead sponsor, was filed for introduction in late January of this year and passed nearly unanimously through the house on Wednesday.
A vote on the legislation saw 97 Delegates vote in support with 2 counted absent and only one – Delegate Fast (R-Fayette, 051) – voting against.
House Bill 2937 will take effect on July 1, 2023.
The House is currently in recess until 6:00pm Wednesday evening.
