HICO, WV (LOOTPRESS) – After a tough road loss last Thursday, the Midland Trail Patriots found their stride at home on Monday, securing a decisive 73-50 victory over the Mount Hope Christian Academy Warriors.
The Patriots took control early and extended their lead to 61-33 by the end of the third quarter.
While the Warriors managed to cut into the deficit, they never fully recovered.
Senior Thad Brown and junior Payton Bailes led the charge for Midland Trail. Brown tallied 25 points, five assists, and four steals while shooting 11-for-21 from the field.
Bailes contributed 19 points with an impressive 78% shooting accuracy, boosting his season three-point shooting percentage to 40.4%.
Jaxon Barnhouse also made his mark, scoring his first points of the season.
With the win, Midland Trail improves to 12-10 on the season. Meanwhile, Mount Hope Christian Academy drops to 14-16 after suffering their second consecutive loss.
The Patriots now turn their attention to regional play, where they will face Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
