HICO, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Midland Trail Patriots will take on the Mount Hope Christian Academy Warriors on Monday at 7:00 p.m., looking to snap a two-game losing streak.
Midland Trail (11-10) has struggled defensively, allowing an average of 54.5 points per game this season. Their most recent contest ended in a 67-48 road loss to Wyoming East last Thursday.
Despite the defeat, junior Payton Bailes delivered a standout performance, scoring 23 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
Senior Thad Brown also contributed with 12 points, three blocks, and a 40% shooting performance from the field.
Mount Hope Christian Academy (14-15) is also looking to rebound from a tough loss. The Warriors fell just short in their last game, losing 58-57 to Pipestem Christian Academy.
The team has now lost three straight matchups against the Panthers.
One key player for the Warriors is sophomore Marshall Dorado, who recorded a career-high 23 points along with three steals in their last outing.
Malachi Flohr was also a major factor, finishing with 17 points and four steals.
Midland Trail will need to focus on containing Dorado and Flohr if they hope to return to the win column.
Meanwhile, Mount Hope Christian Academy will aim to capitalize on the Patriots’ recent defensive struggles.
Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. as both teams look to gain momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
