CABIN CREEK, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after human remains were discovered late Thursday night in the Cabin Creek area.
Deputies were flagged down around 10:45 p.m. by two men who reported finding what they believed to be human remains on a dirt access road near Hill Street and Canady Lane.

The men guided deputies to the location, where authorities confirmed the remains were human and in an advanced state of decomposition.
Deputies and crime scene personnel spent several hours collecting evidence at the scene.
Due to limited visibility, the area was secured overnight, with deputies maintaining control until detectives could resume their investigation in daylight.
The remains have not yet been identified. They were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination, identification, and determination of the cause and manner of death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
