HUNTINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Cabell County man faces charges of First-Degree Murder following a shooting incident which occurred late last month.
According to documents from the Magistrate Court of Cabell County, at approximately 9:40pm on Friday, June 28, 2024, multiple shots were fired at the 2002 Buffington Avenue area of Huntington, WV.
The shooting is reported to have occurred following a verbal dispute between the victim and the defendant regarding an apparent noise complaint.
The defendant – identified as 25-year-old Deonte Joplin – is said to have fired multiple rounds from a firearm, striking the victim. The victim was pronounced deceased a short time after the incident.
Joplin was taken into custody following the altercation and faces charges of First-Degree-Murder. The incident remains under investigation by Detective Mulvaney of the Huntington Police Department.
