CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The southbound slow lane of Interstate 77 will close on Monday, December 2, 2024, to facilitate repairs to the Second Creek Road Bridge, located south of the Haines Branch Exit.
The West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) closed the bridge on Friday, November 15, 2024, following a routine safety inspection that uncovered cracks in the structure’s concrete beams.
Repair plans have been finalized, and steel reinforcements are currently being fabricated to restore the bridge to operational safety standards.
WVDOH crews will begin staging materials and equipment at the site on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
On Monday, workers will install concrete barricades along the closed lane to create a safe work zone and accommodate the large drill required for the repairs.
The repair project is expected to take approximately 30 days to complete.
Motorists are advised to plan for potential delays in the southbound direction while work is underway.
