SUMMERSVILLE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Further details have emerged regarding an attempted bank robbery which occurred in Summersville.
Documents from the Magistrate Court of Nicholas County indicate that Nicholas County Emergency Services advised Summersville Police Department members of an armed robbery in progress at First Community Bank in Summersville.
Corporal Bostic of the West Virginia State Police, along with members of the Summersville Police Department and Nicholas County Sheriff Department, responded to the scene.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement located an individual in the lobby area, confirmed by clerks on duty to be the individual involved in the robbery.
One First Community Bank contacted 911 advising that a man handed his cell phone to her displaying the following message:
“This is a Bank Robbery DO NOT PANIC! I just want a single dollar. I have a gun in my waist. please hand over a single dollar bill. i will sit in the lobby quietly for the police to arrest me. I’m homeless and this is my last resort. I mean absolutely no harm. I promise. I just need a place to sleep at night”.
Authorities report that the teller was in an emotional state due to apparent fear for the safety of herself and others.
A search of the suspect – identified asNicholas Reese Coale, born 4/17/1993 of Ohio – lead to the discovery of a cell phone located on his person.
The clerk stated that the cellular devise was indeed the same phone used to display the aforementioned message.
An investigation into the situation is currently being conducted by Cpl. Bostick with the WVSP.
Coale has been charged with Bank Robbery and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
It was confirmed by law enforcement that no individuals were hurt or injured as a result of the attempted robbery.
