BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Just a few short months after the official closing of landmark Beckley establishment, King Tut Drive-In, the physical structure which housed the business is nowhere to be found.
King Tut Drive-In spent decades operating as one of the most beloved businesses throughout Raleigh County. In August of this year, however, Dave and Michelle McKay announced plans to sell the business and transition into retirement.
“At 77 years of age and 56 years of working, including some of the wife’s health issues, we are ready for full retirement,” said McKay in an August statement.
Reports indicate that that the food preparation area, along with menu signage and other remaining items from the restaurant’s days of operations were recently removed from the site.
As of Tuesday, December 26, 2023, only the vehicle drive-in shelter area and the iconic primary “King Tut” sign remain at the former location of the local business. Several vehicles can now be seen beneath the drive-in shelter coverings in the parking area of the site.
The establishment officially closed its doors on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, signifying the end of an era.
