FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An intimate moment turns hostile in Oak Hill after the ex-boyfriend kept calling and interrupting.
On October 8, 2024, PFC S.M. Wilshire of the local police department responded to a reported assault at Plateau Oaks Apartments. The caller informed authorities that his girlfriend had been involved in a physical altercation with her ex-boyfriend, Joshua Ficke.
Upon arrival, Officer Wilshire observed several fresh droplets of blood at the apartment entrance and found the female seated at the dining table with a visible knot and an open wound on her forehead, actively bleeding. According to the male victim and his girlfriend, the incident unfolded after Ficke repeatedly called her during an intimate moment between her and her current boyfriend. After answering and being unable to hear Ficke, she disconnected the call. Shortly thereafter, Ficke knocked on the door, leading to a brief verbal altercation with the current boyfriend.
The victim asked Ficke to leave, and as she tossed his cell phone outside, Ficke allegedly threw the phone at her, striking her in the head and causing the injury. Following the assault, Ficke left the scene before officers arrived. Blood was observed trailing outside the apartment and onto a nearby grassy area.
EMS personnel from Jan-Care provided medical assistance to the female victim, who declined further treatment.
Ficke is charged with domestic battery.
