BELINGTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One woman has been arrested after a K-9 officer discovered drugs in a vehicle during a traffic stop.
According to the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department, on Sunday, July 23rd, Deputy C. Mayle observed a red in color sedan traveling southbound on Route 250 in Belington, West Virginia.
Deputy C. Mayle observed the described vehicle cross the center line two times. Deputy C. Mayle initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle at “Shop n’ Save” in Belington, West Virginia. Deputy C. Mayle made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Rachel Gassnola.
After establishing reasonable suspicion, Deputy C. Mayle deployed his K9 partner “Creed” to conduct an open-air sniff around the vehicle. K9 Creed alerted on the vehicle’s passenger side; a vehicle search was conducted.
The described search yielded a clear crystal-like substance with a total approximate weight of 52.82 grams (the substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine) and $200.00 of U.S. currency.
Deputy C. Mayle placed the Defendant into custody and the Defendant was transported to Tygart Valley Regional Jail to await arraignment by a Barbour County Magistrate.
Gassnola is currently at Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 bond.
