KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested following allegations of sexual misconduct involving an inmate, according to law enforcement officials.
The West Virginia State Police said they received a report on July 29 regarding an alleged sexual assault of a female inmate housed at South Central Regional Jail.

The woman reported that while being transported to the Kanawha County Judicial Annex, the deputy made inappropriate sexual remarks and later forced her to engage in non-consensual sexual acts.
State police are currently leading a criminal investigation into the incident. In addition, the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office has launched its own internal review.
Officials confirmed during a press conference that the deputy, whose name has not been released, has been dismissed from the department.
Authorities said they are continuing to gather evidence and interview those involved as part of the ongoing investigation.
