KIMBALL, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The closure of a Kimball bridge was announced Wednesday due to damage.
In a Wednesday evening announcement from the Town of Kimball, it was revealed that the wooden bridge on the dirt road section of Upper King Carswell Road near the Stacey residence has been closed until further notice.
“This bridge is NOT SAFE and the deck has been broken,” reads the announcement.
The announcement was supplemented with a photo of a semi truck atop the bridge, the front left tire of which apparently penetrated the deck beneath the weight of the truck.
Some members of the public were seen to express their opinions in response to the announcement, with much of the commentary pertaining to a pre-existing and ongoing need for the addressing of the bridge’s condition.
The closure of this bridge, temporary or otherwise, may cause travel issues for some motorists, as it has also been disclosed that access to Burke Mt. Road and the mine area is completely blocked at this time due to the damage.
It has been requested that those traveling through the area make other arrangements in the interest of avoiding the damaged structure.
