TALCOTT, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Greenbrier County Homeland Security and Emergency Management is expressing its thanks to the Lowell Market for its assistance during a large-scale fire response on Monday.
Around 3 p.m., multiple structure and brush fires broke out in Monroe County, prompting a response from all Monroe County fire departments, along with crews from Summers, Greenbrier, and Giles counties.
In total, 10 to 12 fire departments worked to contain the fires.
Recognizing the need to support first responders, dispatchers from Greenbrier County Emergency Communications Center (ECC) reached out to the Lowell Market in Summers County.
Store manager Jean Ward and her team quickly assembled meat and cheese trays, as well as drinks, to provide much-needed food and hydration to the firefighters on the scene.
The dispatchers picked up and delivered the supplies, ensuring that the firefighters had the resources they needed while battling the fires.
“This business shows just one example of helping the community when needed and how important small businesses like this are to our community,” Greenbrier County Homeland Security and Emergency Management said in a Facebook post.
“We are lucky to have people who are selfless in their actions like Ms. Ward, and we cannot thank her enough for her efforts.”
