OCEANA, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A heated confrontation over a past relationship turned violent on June 18, 2025, leading to criminal charges against a Wyoming County woman.
Authorities say Candace Rose Kennedy was arrested after allegedly crossing W.Va. Route 10 in Oceana and physically attacking a woman parked outside the Oceana Discount Store.
According to law enforcement, Kennedy was walking along the east side of the highway when she spotted the other woman, who was inside a vehicle with Kennedy’s ex-boyfriend. Witnesses told officers that Kennedy began shouting at the woman and challenged her to a fight before crossing the busy highway.
Security footage obtained from the discount store reportedly shows Kennedy approaching the vehicle, opening the car door, and striking the woman multiple times with her hands.
Assistant Chief William Toler of the Oceana Police Department filed the complaint, and the evidence from the surveillance video has been submitted as part of the case.
Kennedy is now facing charges related to the assault.
