WINFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Putnam County man is facing multiple charges after allegedly forcing his way into a camper, assaulting one person, and threatening another.
Deputies responded around 8:09 a.m. on April 13, 2026, to a reported assault at a residence on Campground Drive in Winfield.
According to investigators, the suspect, identified as Densil Luikart Jr., allegedly forced entry into a camper where two individuals were sleeping and began attacking one of them. The victim told officers he was punched and kicked in the face before escaping through a window in an attempt to flee.
Authorities say the suspect continued the assault outside, allegedly throwing a tire at the victim and attempting to strike him with a propane tank. Officers observed visible injuries, including facial redness and blood near the victim’s eye and hand.
A second individual at the scene told deputies she witnessed the attack and said the suspect later returned to the camper, where he allegedly threatened to kill her and pushed her during a confrontation. She told officers she feared for her life and believed the threats were credible, citing past incidents.
The suspect also reportedly damaged property inside the camper, including a television.
Luikart fled the scene in a white Ford truck prior to officers arriving and has not yet been located.
Authorities say Luikart has a prior domestic assault conviction from 2023. He is now facing charges including battery, domestic assault (second offense), and domestic battery (second offense).
The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement is actively attempting to locate the suspect.
