MONTGOMERY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Montgomery man is under investigation after allegedly threatening a tenant and stealing rent money and personal property during a series of confrontations on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
According to Montgomery Police Chief Paris Workman, a woman reported that Carlton Blankenship entered her property on 4th Avenue and confronted her tenant, accusing him of stealing various items from a small house located in her backyard. Among the accusations, Blankenship claimed the tenant had taken a kayak—an item the victim stated actually went missing at the hands of Blankenship himself.
She told police that Blankenship attempted to assault her tenant during the initial confrontation, but the tenant was able to avoid being struck. Later that same day, Blankenship reportedly returned to the property and admitted to taking the tenant’s belongings. He also confessed to allowing someone else to take the kayak.
The victim told authorities she suspects Blankenship was under the influence and may have sold the kayak while high.
