HENLAWSON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – An individual has been arrested for the attempted murder of a Logan County nursing home resident on Monday evening.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 5:12pm on Monday October 23, 2023, Logan County Sheriffs Deputies responses to reports of a shooting at Trinity Healthcare Nursing Home located at 135 Bills Branch Road in Henlawson, WV.
Officers responding to the situation received information indicating that a son had shot his mother, who was a resident of the nursing home. The shooter then reportedly fled the scene in a Chevrolet Truck which was silver in color.
Deputies learned while en route to the scene that Troopers from the Logan Detachment of the State Police had stopped a vehicle matching the description of the suspects vehicle on US 119 near the Chapmanville Exit.
Deputies at the scene discovered that Tomalene Greene – 67 years in age – had sustained a single gun shot to the chest and was transported via life flight to Charleston Area Medical Center (General Division).
The victim, accompanied to authorities, is in stable condition and continues to received medical treatment at the time of writing.
James Steed Biddell – 44 years old of Chillicothe, Ohio – was taken into custody by Troopers with the West Virginia State Police. Biddell was transported by authorities to the Logan Detachment.
Biddell has been arrested and processed for Attempted Murder, Malicious Wounding, and Wanton Endangerment, and is currently housed at the Southwestern Regional Jail awaiting arraignment.
