WELCH, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A McDowell County man has been arrested following an investigation into multiple bomb threats reported on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
According to the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, threats were made against the McDowell County Commission, the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, and the Stevens Correctional Facility.
Deputies launched an investigation and arrested Kenith Charley, 25, of Avondale, later that day.
Charley has been charged with four counts of terroristic threats, four counts of threats to bomb a building, and two counts of disrupting a governmental process.
He was arraigned by Magistrate R.L. Blevins, who set Charley’s bond at $420,000 cash.
The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office thanked the West Virginia State Police for their assistance in the investigation.
Authorities remind the public that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
