WYOMNG COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 49-year-old Wyoming County man is facing misdemeanor charges following a reported domestic incident, according to a criminal complaint filed in magistrate court.
James Dewey Godsey was charged with domestic assault and obstruction stemming from an incident that occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, in the Bud area of Wyoming County.
According to the complaint, deputies with the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched at approximately 12:35 a.m. after the county’s 911 center received a call reporting a domestic disturbance. The caller reported that Godsey was chasing a woman around a parking lot and yelling at her.
When deputies arrived, the victim told officers that Godsey had been chasing her and threatening her. She further reported that Godsey told her that if she did not leave, he was going to kill her, and that he had threatened to stab her.
Deputies then went to Godsey’s residence, where he was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Mullens Police Department for processing.
While being processed, officers reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol coming from Godsey.
According to the complaint, Godsey was belligerent, used profanity toward officers, and refused to sign fingerprint cards despite being asked multiple times, leading to the obstruction charge.
He has since been released on bond.
