PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A 36-year-old Bluefield man was arrested after deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance in the Thorn Street area of Princeton on the evening of October 11.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Mercer County, Cpl. E.D. Leftwich of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched around 5 p.m. to the area of Thorn Street in reference to a domestic situation in progress.
A witness told deputies that a man, later identified as Christopher Lee Whittaker, was following a woman and appeared to be arguing with her.
The witness said Whittaker then used physical contact to move the woman behind a barber shop located on South Wickham Avenue.
When officers spoke with the woman, she confirmed that Whittaker had been chasing her down an alley while yelling insults at her.
Deputies then located Whittaker nearby and took him into custody without further incident and charged with domestic assault.
Whittaker was transported to the Southern Regional Jail and is currently out on bond.
