FORT SPRINGS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested after dragging his wife through the yard, throwing her to the ground, and then putting his knee over her throat to prevent her from breathing.
According to a criminal complaint, on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at approximately 04:42 AM, officers responded to a 911 dispatch call in reference to a domestic situation at a residence on Muddy Lane near Fort Springs in Greenbrier County, West Virginia.
While en route the caller stated that they could hear a vehicle leaving the residence. Officers arrived on the scene a few minutes later and observed the female victim standing in the yard.
Officers then parked in the driveway and walked to the rear of the house trailer and were met by the victim. Officers asked the victim what was going on and the victim began crying and stated she was “tired of getting beat.” The victim then gave a statement that she and her husband, William Austin Moore who she has a child with, had been in a domestic fight.
She went on to state that Mr. Moore had grabbed her and drug her through the yard, punching her and then throwing her to the ground where he placed his knee across her throat, causing her to be unable to breathe.
The victim said while Mr. Moore was strangling her she reached around and picked up a potted plant from the sidewalk and struck Mr. Moore’s leg so he would get off of her so she could breathe. Mr. Moore then went to his truck and drove away intoxicated.
Officers observed injuries on the victim’s body.
Officers then left the scene in an attempt to locate Mr. Moore. Later that same afternoon, officers spotted Mr. Moore in Fort Springs where he was picked up and taken to the sheriff’s office in Lewisburg to be questioned.
Mr. Moore admitted to police that he had been fighting with the victim, however, he denied being the aggressor and claimed self-defense.
Mr. William A. Moore was arrested and charged with Domestic Battery and Strangulation and transported to Southern Regional Jail. He is currently out on bond.
