HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A man is in jail after fighting a scarecrow and striking a woman in the face with a closed fist.
According to the Summers County Sheriff’s Department, on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at around 1:30 pm, deputies responded to a call at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Summers Street about a man fighting a scarecrow.
While responding to the call, a deputy observed the male, Shawn Anderson, strike a female victim in the face with a closed fist. Â The deputy noticed that Anderson was acting very strange and possibly under the influence of a controlled substance.
Anderson was then transported to the Sheriff’s Department, where he was found to have a pair of gloves and a scarf, which were on the scarecrow. Â The estimated value of the items was approximately 15 dollars. Â The City of Hinton owned the scarecrow.
Two witnesses told deputies that they saw Anderson strike the female victim. Â The victim did suffer multiple injuries to her face; she received a laceration to her left cheek, which was bleeding. Â She also had a large knot on the right side of her forehead. Â The victim is currently being treated in Bluefield, Virginia, for a possible facial fracture and concussion.
Anderson is charged with petit larceny and unlawful wounding. Â He is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 12,500 dollar bond.
