HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Shots fired in the immediate vicinity of Hinton Area Elementary School on Wednesday have led to the arrest of a Summers County man.
According to the Summers County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy T.S. Adkins, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at approximately 4:25pm, reports of shots fired near Hinton Area Elementary School prompted a response from Summers County Sheriff J.L. Faris.
Upon arriving at the scene, Sheriff Faris made contact with Jason Teabo, 23 years old of Hinton, WV.
An investigation was conducted into the incident, which soon led to Teabo’s arrest for Discharging a Firearm with 500-feet of a School. Teabo was also charged with Prohibited Person Possessing a Firearm.
Notably, authorities assert that the significance of the school itself in the arrest and incident is merely a matter of proximity to the events in question, and that the school was not target in any manner.
It was further noted that the use of illegal drugs was a factor in the situation, though further details in this regard were not provided.
Sheriff J.L. Faris has been confirmed to be the investigating officer in this case.
