WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wood County man was arrested May 11 after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and attempting to hide from deputies under a swimming pool deck.
Deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on Burnt House Road in Wood County.
Upon arrival, they were given access to the home by a roommate and began searching for the male suspect.
Meanwhile, the female victim was found at a neighbor’s house and told deputies that her boyfriend had attacked her.
Deputies observed visible injuries on the woman, including facial bruising and a small laceration. The suspect was not immediately located and deputies cleared the scene after an initial search.
About an hour later, deputies were called back to the residence. This time, they found the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Joshua Allen Chipps of Camden Avenue, hiding under a pool deck concealed by thick brush.
Chipps was arrested and charged with domestic battery. He is currently out on bond.
