WOOD COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Wood County man has been arrested on charges of domestic battery following an incident that began on August 25th.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, a Deputy was called to the Williamstown Police Department to take a report from a woman who alleged she had been assaulted.
The woman reported that she had been struck in the stomach several times and that the assailant had attempted to force her out of a vehicle while crossing the Williamstown Bridge into Marietta.
After the incident, her brother picked her up.
The suspect, Clifton Eugene Stevenson, 69, of Williamstown Pike, could not be immediately located. However, a warrant for his arrest was issued.
On August 26th, deputies responded to Williamstown Pike to serve the warrant. Stevenson was arrested without incident.
In addition to the domestic battery charge, Stevenson was also served with a Domestic Violence Protective Order.
He was transported to the Holding Center for processing, arraigned before a Magistrate, and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond.
