PIPESTEM, WV (LOOTPRESS) – At approximately 2 am Sunday in the Pipestem area of Summers County, Deputy Josh Farmer initiated a traffic stop on a Dodge Neon for an equipment violation.
The vehicle failed to yield to his emergency lights and siren. The vehicle fled into Mercer County. Sheriff Faris and Deputy John Ward responded to assist Deputy Farmer. Mercer County Sheriffs Department, Concord Police Department, Princeton Police Department, and the WV State Police all responded.
Once arriving in Athens, the suspect vehicle struck a Concord Police Department vehicle. The vehicle then entered a residential yard to avoid being stopped. The pursuit then continued onto Mercer Springs Road. In the Spanishburg area of Mercer County, Officer Bish with the Concord Police Department executed a textbook pit maneuver on the suspect vehicle. This maneuver was executed to avoid any public harm.
After fighting with officers, David Foley 46 of Mercer County was taken into custody. He is currently being held at Southern Regional Jail on the charge of Fleeing DUI.
More charges are pending, and the investigation is still ongoing. Due to the actions of responding officers, no one besides the suspect was injured.
