SPRING MILLS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested after shooting and killing his ex-wife Monday morning.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, December 11th at 8:41 am, Berkeley County Sheriff Deputies responded to the WVU Urgent Care in Spring Mills for a reported shooting.
Deputies arrived on the scene and located a female shooting victim lying unresponsive in the parking lot.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. She was identified as forty-nine-year-old Jennifer Conley of Hedgesville.
Deputies were able to obtain a description of the suspect and his vehicle, which was relayed to area law enforcement.
A short time later, the suspect was stopped by Martinsburg City Police officers. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the traffic stop and took the suspect into custody.
A firearm was also recovered during the traffic stop.
The suspect was identified as the victim’s ex-husband, Dennis Conley. Conley is fifty-three years old and was residing in Hedgesville.
During their investigation, criminal investigators learned that Conley had been making threats toward his ex-wife in the months preceding the shooting.
Dennis Conley was charged with murder and placed in the Eastern Regional Jail to await arraignment.
He was later arraigned by Magistrate Thompson and remanded to the regional jail without bond.
