GREEN SPRING, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested after he slammed his girlfriend’s head into a wooden armrest, and then threatened her with a bow for messaging another male on Facebook.
According to a criminal complaint, on May 14, 2023, the Hampshire County 911 center received a call for a domestic in progress in Green Spring in Hampshire County. Troopers responded and made contact with the victim.
Troopers asked the victim where the suspect, identified as 51-year-old Paul Carder of Romney, WV was located. The victim told troopers Carder was in the shed on the property, troopers cleared the shed with negative results for Paul Carder.
While troopers were interviewing the victim, Paul Carder arrived on the scene acting belligerent. Troopers then separated the parties and began to interview Paul Carder.
Paul Carder stated he did not know why troopers were at his residence. Paul Carder continued to act belligerent, at which point troopers continued their interview with the victim.
The victim told troopers Carder was looking at her Facebook and discovered a male friend that she had been talking to. The victim then stated that Carder called her a “f****** w****.” She stated that Carder then grabbed her head and slammed it against a wooden armchair rest.
Carder proceeded to grab the victim’s mouth calling her multiple other expletives. Carder then grabbed a bow and placed it against the victim’s neck and stated “I’m going to kill you next,” the complaint alleges.
Carder was arrested and transported to the West Virginia State Police Romney Detachment for processing.
At the West Virginia State Police Romney Detachment, a trooper handcuffed and shackled Paul Carder to the bench located in the processing room.
When the trooper exited the room, Paul Carder was observed kicking the desk located to the left of the bench with his right foot that was not shackled. Paul Carder destroyed the left two drawers on the desk and was then charged with Destruction of Property.
The trooper then shackled Paul Carder’s right leg to the desk to prevent further incidents during processing.
Paul Carder has been charged with Domestic Battery, Domestic Assault, Brandishing, and Destruction of Property. He is currently at Potomac Highlands Regional Jail on a $5,012 cash-only bond.
