FRANKFORD, WV (LOOTPRESS) — Authorities arrested Vesper Lewis after he allegedly broke into his mother’s home, threatened a woman, and stole both a bicycle and a kitten on Monday, May 26, 2025.
Greenbrier County deputies were dispatched to a home when the house sitter for the homeowner called 911 to report an active break-in. She told dispatchers that Lewis, the victim’s son, had unlawfully entered the home despite being previously barred from the property.
Upon arrival, officers found signs of forced entry, including a ripped window screen and an unlocked back door. The caller, who identified herself as Lewis’s ex-girlfriend, said she had locked him out earlier after he began threatening her. She reported that Lewis forced his way back in, attempted to kick down a bedroom door she was holding shut, and threatened to “beat her brains in” and kill her if she tried to leave.
She told officers she feared for her life and planned to leave the residence as soon as her mother arrived.
Another resident, who lives in the basement apartment, confirmed hearing frequent fighting and claimed she overheard Lewis threatening to burn the house down.
While searching the area, deputies were told Lewis had been seen at a nearby home on Salisbury Lane, but he fled before officers arrived. A bicycle believed to belong to the victim was recovered from the area and returned to her property.
In a surprising twist, she claimed a neighbor and daughter approached officers to report their orange kitten missing. They later identified the kitten at the home, with the caller confirming that Lewis had brought it to her earlier that day. She said Lewis had previously asked for a kitten but was told no.
Lewis, who has a 2020 conviction for domestic battery, remains at large. Authorities say both the bicycle and kitten were valued under $1,000.
