CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – One man has been arrested after threatening to hit his daughter’s girlfriend with a softball bat, stating he wanted “whoop her a**.”
According to a criminal complaint, on Friday, June 14, 2024, police were dispatched to a residence on Mississippi Way in Charleston to a 911 hang-up.
Upon arrival, police spoke to the two victims, the suspect’s daughter and her girlfriend.
The victims told police that the suspect, 65-year-old Michael Dingess, had stopped them in their driveway as they were attempting to leave for work.
Dingess allegedly started to make threats to his daughter’s girlfriend, stating he wanted to “whoop her a**.”
The girlfriend exited her car to confront Dingess about the threats he was making. Dingess then grabbed a small softball bat and raised it toward her.
Dingess’ daughter stepped in between them where Dingess proceeded to place his arm across his daughter’s chest and pinned her out of the way while still having the softball bat raised toward them.
Dingess’ daughter pushed her father against the wall of his trailer and pinned him against it where he then relinquished the bat and the parties separated.
Dingess was arrested and charged with Assault and Domestic Battery. He is currently out on bond.
