ALDERSON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Summers County man was arrested Tuesday night following a domestic disturbance at a residence on Weikle Drive in Alderson.
According to a criminal complaint, West Virginia State Police responded to the scene at approximately 9:50 p.m. after receiving a report of a domestic incident.
The caller had already left the residence by the time authorities arrived.
Troopers made contact with the victim at another location, where she reported that her ex-boyfriend, 47-year-old Carl Wickline, had been drinking and became aggressive.
She stated that Wickline was arguing with family members over the phone before turning his anger toward her.
According to the complaint, the victim was outside smoking and, upon reentering the house, Wickline ordered her to go to bed.
He then followed her into the bedroom, threatened to harm her, and blamed her for the situation.
She further alleged that Wickline punched the bedroom wall multiple times while making threats, at one point balling his fist and holding it in front of her face. She told police she feared for her safety.
Troopers arrived at the residence and found Wickline intoxicated. He refused to discuss the incident.
Officers observed damage to the bedroom wall and subsequently placed Wickline under arrest for domestic assault.
Authorities noted that because the victim and accused are former partners and shared a household, the incident qualifies as domestic assault under state law.
Wickline was taken into custody and charged with domestic assault. He is currently at Southern Regional Jail on a $1,000 bond.
