MOUNT HOPE, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Mount Hope man faces serious charges after he threatened to kill a police officer and blow up the whole Mount Hope Police Department.
According to Mount Hope Police, on June 7, 2021, a call came in from a city employee that they received a text from a store owner that a man known as “fabulous” was inside the store saying he was going to kill everyone. Â When a police officer went to the store, the owner was sitting behind the counter, not saying anything, and James Wayne was sitting behind a chair to the left of him. Â The officer asked the suspect why he had red paint on his face? Mr. Wayne replied, “because I have paint on my face”. Â Â When the officer asked Mr. Wayne if he had been making threats, Mr. Wayne said, “No, the only one making threats is you saying you’re going to kill me, and whoever said that is a liar”.
The officer asked Wayne to come outside, and he started yelling and cursing the officer out. An altercation occurred, and the suspect struck the officer in the midsection. Â The officer was able to get the suspect arrested but continued to harass the officer verbally. Finally, the suspect told the officer, “I’m going to kill you and blow up the whole police department and everyone else that gets in my way”. Â The officer then told the suspect not to say things like that because people could take it the wrong way; Mr. Wayne replied, “I mean it”.
Wayne is charged with obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct, terroristic threats, and battery law enforcement. Â He is currently in Southern Regional Jail under a 25,000 dollar bond.
