CROSS LANES, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Cross Lanes man is facing multiple criminal charges following two separate disturbances reported over the weekend in Kanawha County.
According to criminal complaints filed in Kanawha County, 39-year-old Charles Griggs of was involved in two incidents that led to charges including assault, false reporting of an emergency, and destruction of property.
The first incident occurred on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at approximately 8:47 p.m., when officers responded to a disturbance at Mr. Griggs’ apartment building.
The complainant told police that Griggs recorded her and her children with his phone while they were carrying groceries into their home.
She stated that Griggs pointed his fingers like a gun and shouted, “I’ll shoot you, bi**h. Pow Pow.”
According to police, Griggs has also made numerous false 911 calls in the past, including bizarre claims about his neighbors tampering with his vehicle and manipulating high-pitched sound frequencies through Wi-Fi cords.
He has reportedly told authorities he created a digital A.I. security system to prove that law enforcement was stalking him.
From January through June 21, 2025, Griggs allegedly made approximately 106 non-emergency calls to Metro 911, often accusing dispatchers and police of racism and verbally abusing call center staff.
He reportedly continued calling even after being instructed to stop unless he had a legitimate emergency.
As a result of the June 21 incident, Griggs was charged with assault and false reporting of an emergency incident.
A second incident occurred just hours later, around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 22. Officers responded to a report of property damage on Big Tyler Road.
The complainant stated he was retrieving items from his vehicle across the street when Griggs allegedly began throwing rocks at him and his motorcycle.
He said the rocks hit his motorcycle multiple times, and officers observed and documented chipped paint at three different locations on the vehicle.
Griggs also allegedly made another 911 call claiming the complainant, who was on a motorcycle, was impersonating law enforcement and intended to kill him.
Griggs was charged with destruction of property in connection with the second incident.
He is currently being held at South Central Regional Jail.
