LEWISBURG, WV (LOOTPRESS) – In the early hours of April 30, 2025, a man was arrested after damaging city property outside Lewisburg City Hall while under the influence of alcohol.
According to Cpl. S.M. Simmons of the Lewisburg Police Department, Sgt. Doss of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office initially observed the suspect, identified as Bishop Poe, around 2:00 a.m., reportedly destroying property in front of City Hall at 942 West Washington Street.
Upon arrival, Cpl. Simmons noted Poe had visible signs of intoxication, including glossy eyes, slurred speech, the smell of alcohol, and possession of a Hawk Knob hard cider. Surveillance footage confirmed that Poe had been sitting at the public piano outside City Hall for approximately two hours while drinking before becoming aggressive.
Poe was seen on camera toppling a city-owned metal trash can, scattering its contents on the sidewalk, and violently smashing a city-owned piano chair, valued at $150, by lifting it overhead and slamming it onto the pavement. He also kicked the piano and struck a lantern above.
Poe was arrested and charged with destruction of property, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and littering. He was processed and transported to the Southern Regional Jail by Sgt. Doss.
