HINTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) — A Summers County man is facing serious charges after allegedly cutting a woman across the throat during a dispute Tuesday evening in Hinton.
Officers were dispatched around 6:22 p.m. on April 14, 2026, to a reported assault in progress along 2nd Avenue. Dispatchers advised that a verbal argument between a man and woman escalated when the suspect produced an object and cut the woman’s throat.
When officers arrived, EMS crews were already on scene providing emergency medical care. The victim was found with a visible laceration to her throat and was actively bleeding. First responders determined the injury required hospital treatment, including possible stitches, and she was transported for further care.
Police located the suspect, identified as Bobbie Dix Galloway Jr., nearby at the corner of 2nd Avenue and Sportsman Way. He was detained without incident.
During the investigation, Galloway told officers the two had been arguing throughout the day and claimed he walked away from the situation. However, the victim stated that as he was leaving, he pulled an object from his pocket and swung it at her throat, causing the injury. She told officers she feared for her life and did not want him on her property.
Following his arrest, officers conducted a search and reportedly found approximately 0.8 grams of methamphetamine and about 12 grams of marijuana in his possession.
Galloway was taken into custody and is charged with malicious wounding and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
