BECKLEY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A multi-agency investigation led to the arrest of a Beckley man following a reported fire and break-in at a local restaurant in Raleigh County, according to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Frank Priddy said that on Jan. 22, 2026, Deputy S. Lilly responded to a smoke alarm activation at Pasquales. When the deputy arrived, smoke was observed coming from the rear door of the business.
Further investigation revealed the restaurant’s office had been broken into, prompting the launch of a criminal investigation.
The case quickly expanded into a joint effort involving the Beckley Police Department, the Mullens Police Department, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department, and the State Fire Marshal.
As a result of the investigation, Anthony Gump of Beckley was taken into custody.
Authorities said Gump is charged with second-degree arson, grand larceny, destruction of property exceeding $2,500, and breaking and entering. He is currently being held at the Southern Regional Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Sheriff Priddy and Chief Deputy Frankie Shelton thanked all agencies involved for their cooperation and assistance in the investigation and arrest.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
