FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Florida man is facing multiple felony charges following a reported abduction and sexual assault involving an adult female in Fayette County, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies said the incident was reported on Dec. 19, 2025, in the Valley area of Fayette County.
Authorities stated that the suspect allegedly went to the victim’s residence, forced her into a vehicle, and sexually assaulted her. Investigators said the victim was later able to escape and contact emergency services.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case, officials said limited details are being released.
Gregory Travis Shields, 43, of Florida, has been charged with kidnapping, two counts of first-degree sexual assault, and strangulation.
Shields was arrested in Kanawha County by the West Virginia State Police and will await further court proceedings.
Authorities emphasized that all criminal charges are allegations. Shields is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
