ELKINS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A driver in the Randolph County area is facing DUI related charges following a Sunday incident in which a truck was discovered stuck in a ditch.
According to Deputy Pingley of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, March 3, 2022, a single-vehicle accident on Isner Creek Road was dispatched by 911 and saw response from West Virginia State Police Troopers, along with Deputy Pingley and Sgt. Cogar of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.
Once authorities made their way to the scene, a pickup truck with damage to the driver side could be observed in a ditch. The driver – identified as Logan Comer – emitted the odor of alcohol while interacting with officers and exhibited an apparent loss of balance.
Reports indicate that the pickup truck had crossed the center line and struck a guardrail on the opposite lane. As the truck grinded along with guardrail, the driver overcorrected and went into the ditch by the original lane. The driver then made unsuccessful attempts to drive out of the ditch which resulted in the tires of the vehicle becoming flat.
The driver refused medical treatment and was arrested on DUI related charges after a field sobriety test was conducted. These charges were issued through the WVSP while the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office completed accident reporting with regard to the incident.
