PRINCETON, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A Princeton man was arrested Friday, May 23, on multiple felony charges after allegedly destroying personal property and mishandling human remains during a domestic dispute.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Mercer County, Patrolman T.D. Cook of the Princeton Police Department responded to a destruction of property complaint at a residence on Ball Street at approximately 8:13 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers found clothing, a television, a bed, and other items scattered in the yard with visible tire tracks from an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) running over them.
The damage reportedly included a 75-inch LG television worth $1,300, a queen-size mattress and bed frame valued at $2,000, an Acer laptop worth $350, and approximately $1,000 worth of clothing. The total estimated damage amounted to $4,650.
Later that same morning, the victim reported a separate and more disturbing incident. She told police that among the items thrown into the yard was a sealed biohazard container that held the preserved remains of her miscarried child.
The container had been kept on her nightstand and had been clearly identified to the suspect.
According to the report, the container was tossed into the yard and run over with the ATV, breaking it open and exposing the remains.
The suspect, identified in the complaint as Daniel Agnew, is the victim’s former boyfriend. She told police the two had broken up earlier in May, citing ongoing tensions and previous incidents of aggression.
One such incident occurred around May 10, when Agnew allegedly flipped an ATV while they were riding and later confronted her aggressively, grabbing her hand in an attempt to make her strike him.
A domestic violence petition was filed the same day the report was made.
When Agnew arrived at the Princeton Police Department to be served with the petition, he was also arrested and charged with felony destruction of property and disinterment or displacement of a dead body.
